Scarring is a natural process of healing damaged tissue. It’s a survival mechanism after trauma such as surgery, injury, radiotherapy & burns.
The connective tissue can become taut and create undesired outcomes such as tissue thickening, and tightening, nerve damage and restricted muscle movements.
Sensations can be vast and range from hypersensitivity, pain, tightness, stinging and numbing.
Scar Tissue Release Techniques are an integral and essential part of allowing damaged areas to heal. When applied correctly will they warm and stretch targeted tissue and allow more flexibility – thus allowing nutrients to flood the area and releases of accumulated waste matter. Ultimately it will improve outcomes for better range of movement, healing and reduction of inflammation & oedema
Bowen Therapies
Connective tissue surrounds all the internal body parts. It surrounds the organs, bones and muscles and houses the circulatory capillaries, lymphatic vessels and nerves. It can be mapped in sheets of connected fascia - all inter-communicating with each other. When a body area becomes traumatised through injury or stress it is reflected in the connective tissue.
Bowen Therapy is non invasive and forms a series of gentle rolling moves in specific places. This seems to re-communicate the connective tissue of the body - thus helping to align and nourish the surrounding bones and tissues.
What to expect from a bowen treatment
Bowen Therapy is unlike any other treatment currently available. Its aim is to trigger specific responses within the body by creating a ripple in the connective tissue. Once a few "triggers" have been set, the therapist will leave the room for a few minutes so that the brain can work out what changes have just occured.
Although this is alien to many people who are used to having a therapist "hands-on" for a whole treatment, it is essential to the process of rebalancing the mind/body communication. During this time alone, the patient will quiet down energetically and find a peace within themselves, thus facilitating rapid healing.
Treatments last around 1 hour.
